About the Ketet/Abhnit Family

“Rooted in history. United across generations.”
Our story
Our family tradition traces its recorded beginnings to ንጉስ ኣበኔር, believed to have lived around the first century. From his line came ዕንኩራይ / ኣኹሮ / እዃረሩ, ከተት, ሓቲማ, and ጎንዳይ, leading to the ever-growing family houses, Biets (ቤት), of today. Now numbering more than forty, these Biets carry forward one shared ancestry and identity.
Across centuries of migration, from the lands of Abyssinia to Keren and far beyond, our families established new homes across countries and continents.
The branches traveled far. The roots remained one.
The Abhnit Family Digital Hub was created so that distance never becomes disconnection. It is a private digital home where generations can reconnect, speak across borders, share their stories, and learn directly from the wisdom of our elders. Here, we preserve family photographs and elder interviews before they fade, organize reunions, support one another through family funds, and maintain a living genealogical record through Ukara Ancestry | ሓረግ ወለዶ እዃራ.
Our public pages, including the blog, shop, donations, and events, are the family's open hand to friends, supporters, and distant relatives.
Beyond them lies the heart of the Hub: a protected home for family, where every story is remembered, every name belongs, and every generation helps our living tree continue to grow.
